The Diamond Jubilee of HRH Queen Elizabeth II is the international celebration throughout 2012 marking the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne on 6th February 1952. To commemorate this event Specialised Covers have commissioned Pattern Designer and Artist Emma Burton to create a special range of prints which will be used to create our very own unique and fully customisable range of indoor car covers.

Burton's designs are based around a repeat pattern of hand drawn imagery illustrating the iconic symbolism associated with the Monarchy and of London, both quintessential with the very best of Great Britain. The colour palette she has chosen to base these designs around is significant and uses the red, white and blue found within the Great Britain Flag, The Union Jack.

How to custom design your cover...

There are 4 printed designs to choose from. These can be customised to be used in either the cover's side or centre panels, or used to create a fully printed car cover. If you wish to have the printed design on only the side or centre panel then you can choose to have either a red, navy blue or white full colour panel instead. You can then choose your cover's piping colour, again from either red, navy blue and white. Covers always look great with contrast piping and we have created several examples above of how these covers will look to give you some inspiration.

New cars, define motor shows. This is especially true of Geneva because it’s the first chance manufacturers get to show off their new models.

The Lamborghini Aventador was an imposing presence on media day, mainly because it is huge…and stunning.  The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta also drew a crowd, mainly because it’s a new Ferrari.

Land Rover confirmed that they really are serious about a convertible Evoque, even if we're not, and Jaguar launched an estate version of their XF, but gave it a silly name; the ‘XF Sportbrake’.

There were couple of surprises for the opening day. Firstly, Vauxhall won car of 2012 with their Ampera, a car that alternates between electric power and fuel depending on the speed your doing. Essentially this is a ‘proper’ hybrid car and for that reason, we don’t think it should have won. Until Hydrogen cars are brought into production, hybrids and full electric cars should be treated as a stopgap and if we’re really honest, a fad. Frankly any of the models mentioned before the Ampera could have been car of the year. (The standard Evoque came in fourth place with the VW-up taking second).

The second surprise is a car that will never be car of any year and probably won’t win any awards, ever; the Bentley EXP9F.

If the name wasn’t an indication that this car is going to awful, it’s looks should definitely do the trick.

Essentially, it’s an SUV. Bentley is trying to take a slice of the Range Rover market, but their EXP 9 F Concept is so vulgar, so uncouth, even Wayne Rooney might think this is a step too far (…ok perhaps not).

I really hope Bentley go back to the drawing board and re-think this one. It makes sense for them to have a bash at an SUV, but not in this current guise.

The Motorhome Caravan and Camping Show 2012 opened this week on the 14th Feb for the first time in London at ExCel.  The event is organised by the Caravan and Motor home industry and supported by the NCC.  This is a welcome introduction to the Southern market which has never had their own regional event.

It appears from reports that attendance has been great so far and initial feedback from the show is all positive.  Everyone is looking forward to a strong footfall at the weekend to help boost sales.  With ExCel being double the size of Earls court it can house something for everyone bring broad appeal to this new show.

The show is supported by all the major brands, including Elddis, Lunar, Bailey, Swift and the Trigano Group.  The Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club will have major exhibition stands at the show.

Unfortunately Specialised Covers are not attending the show this year.  With strong sales and a significant efficiency drive underway within the company for 2012 to improve all aspects of the business, from manufacturing output and quality to after-sales support, we feel the expense of these shows would be better spent invested back into the company to further improve an already successful initiative.

Between 1960 and 1965 Ferrari had won the Le Mans 24 Hour every year. For those six years Ferrari looked unbeatable but in 1966 the Ford GT40 took first place at Le Mans. It then won for the next three years until 1969. It was the first car at Le Mans to win more than once with the same chassis and since then only one other car has done the same.
