It's official, 3 entries have been selected by Specialised Covers as part of the Art Cover Designer Project.

The 3 selected artists are as follows; Stephanie-Rose Turner, Emma Burton and last but not least Bryony-Rose Atkinson. Each have been selected for their unique take on the requirements for the project and have entered art that reflects not only very personal influences, but their artistic capabilities.

Stephanie-Rose Turner's work was chosen for it's raw perspective and visual representation of speed. Turner's work is a modestly masculine piece which has derived from natural forms such as floral influences.

Emma Burton's work is known as the 'Pyjama Cover' here at Specialised Covers and is very commercially viable. The cover can be customised to show patterned images of customers cars and can be produced in several different colours, without demolishing Burton's design.

Bryony-Rose Atkinson's art cover entry was difficult to overlook due to its high impact and immediately attention grabbing designs. Her aesthetically pleasing designs and bright floral patterns attract those that are not typically attracted to feminine designs.

Overall Specialised Cover's have been instilled with excitement in terms of seeing what the future might hold for working alongside innovative artists. We are grateful for all entries and have been thoroughly impressed with the quality of work received.  The 3 chosen covers will be manufactured and presented at the end of year show on the 15th June in the University lecture theatre.  The final decision took much deliberation and was a difficult one at best. Once again, thankyou to those who entered and we look forward to what the future might hold.

Specialised Covers

Jessica Sammon has created artwork for the Art Cover Project which has been heavily inspired by several elements. “The main inspiration is a scarf range that appealed to me and I loved the designs” says Sammon. She also claims that she took inspiration from White Scar Caves which allows us to understand where the crystallised design has culminated from.

Sammon created the artwork using ink dyes which enabled her to make the granite like appearance which features on the cover. Whilst combining her inspirations, Jessica Sammon has also concentrated on the detail of the artwork and her use of colours.

We considered many aspects including market interest, demand,implementation, cost, wow factor, what cars they would be shown on and of course the ones we just loved.

We have made our decision and will be announcing tomorrow the winners.  However all the covers will feature on our new website which will be live in the next 8 weeks.  So please keep visiting the site for updates.

Elliott's use of a scale like design means that it has been easy to pattern across the entire car. Making the car look as if it is a scaled animal, toying with the natural perception a viewer might have.

The tessellation of the lines create a 2D effect on the car and toy with the overall aesthetics of the car. The lines challenge the natural curves of the car and encourage you to want to explore more.

Burton's designs are based around a repeat pattern of hand drawn imagery illustrating the iconic symbolism associated with the Monarchy and of London, both quintessential with the very best of Great Britain. The colour palette she has chosen to base these designs around is significant and uses the red, white and blue found within the Great Britain Flag, The Union Jack.

How to custom design your cover...

There are 4 printed designs to choose from. These can be customised to be used in either the cover's side or centre panels, or used to create a fully printed car cover. If you wish to have the printed design on only the side or centre panel then you can choose to have either a red, navy blue or white full colour panel instead. You can then choose your cover's piping colour, again from either red, navy blue and white. Covers always look great with contrast piping and we have created several examples above of how these covers will look to give you some inspiration.

Learmonth has used grey photographs of tools and car parts and replaced areas of them with bright colour. This adds a variety of colours to the art cover and makes the overall effect more appealing.

Learmonth has released her final design for the Art Cover project. The patterned design instills excitement and a natural curiosity into any viewer with its intricate details.

Jemima Rodwell took her inspiration for her art cover from how she perceived the typical car that is used in Specialised Covers adverts. "I wanted to create a specialised car cover that would embody all of the things I think of when I envisage the cars you design for" says Rodwell. "They are fast, beautiful, potentially dangerous yet we are mesmerised by them" she added.

Rodwell created a 'shark' themed design which she believes embodies the super car's sleek aesthetics, fins, gills [air intake], not to mention its acceleration and nimble precision. An interesting colour gradient also gives her design an appealing depth.
