As part of our company rebrand and the creation of our new website, we would like to bring together the success stories from satisfied customers who have purchase are currently enjoying the benefits of our products. We have incorporated a Testimonials section within our About Us area and would like to display as much imagery as possible from you the consumer of you and your cover! This could be a simple photo of your car, bike or caravan covered up or perhaps even a shot of just you.

As much as we’d like to display every one of your pictures we will unfortunately have to choose the best of the bunch – so get creative and we will announce our winner of best picture and story in a future news bulletin. At the end of February, Specialised Covers visited the Boat and Caravan Show at the NEC in Birmingham. The tailored, long-term storage, caravan cover was on display and members of the Specialised Covers team were on hand to explain the science behind the fabric. Also on display was the new Towing Protector, designed to protect your caravan during towing. (For more information, see our Caravan Covers product pages.)

We have recently started production of our Video Support features. It has long been an ambition of the company to be able to provide informative, in-depth and innovative support material for customers and distributors. The material will include specially produced video tutorials and demonstrations relating to our products. As well as providing comprehensive written and visual product guides to accompany our range of tailored covers and towing protectors, we have always believed that the use of film was the best way to assist any consumer who perhaps has had difficulties with understanding their new purchases or simply for those potential consumers who are looking to greater understand the differences between, not only our covers, but those of our competitors.

We have been developing the production side of these features for a while and have been speaking with our customers to better understand what they would like to see and the kinds of features that will most benefit them.

Specialised Covers supplied Mercedes with metallic indoor covers for the 2011, Geneva Motorshow. Mercedes needed covers to protect the cars, whilst subtly retaining their design aesthetics. Our production staff meticulously crafted the covers from silver Prestige fabric, to complement the Mercedes brand. Managing Director, Elliot Long oversaw the process.

Practical Caravan Magazine kindly reviewed a Specialised Covers Towing Protector. However, the magazine made a blunder when they fitted the cover incorrectly. Specialised Covers’ Managing Director, Elliot Long reassures customers that the magazine feature misrepresented the quality of the Towing Protector.

On Monday 4th April 2011 our innovative and new Specialised Covers website went live for the first time. After months of development we felt the time was right to roll out the new site and see how our customers interact with the new format. Websites by nature are constantly evolving and ‘living’ entities within their own right and this site will be no different. We understand the importance of keeping the site fresh and the overall customer experience engaging.

So far we have received a great response from our customer base and by those who have visited the site. We would like to thank those of you who have taken the time to call and offer us your feedback. As much as we appreciate all your compliments, we also welcome and greatly value any constructive criticism on how we can improve the site. We already have some great new ideas in the pipeline which we believe will help with the usability of the site – especially for those users with smaller, low resolution computer monitors.

Our website has been live now for a little over a week and already we have identified areas in which we feel we want to develop some more and which we believe will hopefully enhance the usability of the site even more. As great as it is to create a beautifully slick and stylised ‘look’ for our company website, we appreciate it is just as fundamentally important to have a simple and easy to use site in which everyone can use – not just the ‘computer savvy’ generation!?

To give just a brief insight into some of the developments we’re planning on implementing over the coming weeks and months - we have based great importance on making our products as visually inspiring as possible! We have a great portfolio of imagery now, which we’ll continue to grow. On larger format computer screens we’re able to present this imagery within a large ‘Media Panel’ and yet still be able to see other important areas within the page such as the scrolling ‘Showroom’ and the following ‘Product Information Panel’. Using these monitors gives a great overview of the products and keeps everything to hand. Unfortunately, not every user will experience the website this same way and therefore will potentially not have the same satisfactory customer experience?

Specialised Covers have long been supporters of initiatives aimed at providing opportunities to the youth living in the Shipley area as well as to the West Yorkshire area as a whole.  Our strong belief in the quality of British design and manufacturing has always led us to recruit both experienced and inexperienced staff, young and old, from the local area. This blend of experience and enthusiasm has been a successful mix in the past and once again Specialised Covers are looking at ways in which we can continue to play a pivotal part in the education and development of young people in the area and eventually, as we expand, across the country.

One of the ways we are looking at supporting those interested in employment in textile manufacturing is by creating and establishing a fully certified apprenticeship scheme for school leavers.

The UK’s leading trailer manufacturer, Ifor Williams is the latest company to enlist the services of Specialised Covers.  Specialised Covers are to tailor outdoor storage covers for the latest range of horsebox trailers. Managing Director, Elliot Long was extremely pleased with the developments.
