Celebrate the Festival of Speed at Goodwood
Everybody’s getting very excited here in the Specialised Covers office because one of our favourite motoring weekends of the year is just around the corner…
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a motor enthusiast’s DREAM weekend – there ares fast cars, even faster cars, super cars, souped-up cars, and some of the most revered classic cars in history.
Taking place from 23rd June until 26th June, this year’s show is set to be bigger and better than ever. Mini has announced it’ll be showing its latest model, the Mini Seven, at the show and BMW, which is the festival’s featured marque, will be out in force to celebrate it’s centenary year.
What’s more, seven current Formula One teams will be present – Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, Force India, McLaren, Red Bull, Renault, and Williams. Drivers and riders set to appear include Jenson Button, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mark Webber, Sir Stirling Moss, Martin Brundle and John Surtees.
Le Mans will also be represented, with race winners including Richard Attwood, Derek Bell and Vern Schuppen confirmed as attending, along with Nascar champion Bobby Lebonte, rallycross star Ken Block and touring car drivers Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and Steve Soper.
Described as the largest motoring garden party in the world, Goodwood is a heady weekend of cars, stars, and motorsport royalty during which visitors can see the Thursday Moving Motor Show and the famous 1.6m hill climb which takes place on the Friday.
The theme of the 2016 Festival of Speed is The Endless Pursuit of Power with a focus on celebrating “the most epic machinery ever to grace the race tracks of the world”.
