Here at Specialised we value community spirits and encourage local events.

On the 9th of June the Knaresborough Bed Race took place. This annual event is organised by the Knaresborough Lions Club, and is built on the foundation of charity and good community. The race is one the largest community events in the North of England.

This year the local Nippers Nursery took up the race challenge and joined in with the fun with the team Killer Queens for the 7th time. The team ran to race money for the Candle Lighters Charity. Specialised sponsored the team and provided them with printed t-shirts.

The day started at 11 am when the Conyngham Hall Field Entertainments opened. This was a great opportunity to enjoy lots of ice cream, let the children play around on the rides and ended with the important Best Dressed Bed award, won by the Lido Loonies.

Following this, the Parade began in Castlegate. There were Bands and Floats through Knaresborough town all the way to Conyngham Hall. Here the most entertaining team was awarded, and Proctor and Gamble were the winning entertainers. The Mayor of Knaresborough also joined the entertainment and hosted the welcome ceremony.

After long anticipation the bed race finally kicked off, it was a close race and our local Killer Queens’ official time was 21:39 and they came 31st over all. Well-done boys!
