First seen at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the new Jaguar F-Type has been one of the most eagerly anticipated cars of the year. But it’s finally here, and as of tomorrow the UK customer order books will be opened. There are three different models in the new range; The standard F-type, the F-type S and the F-Type V8 S, delivering a 5 litre V8 engine and 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds. With the basic model starting at £58,520, rising to over £79,985 for the V8 S, it’s remarkably cheaper, but with all the speed and performance of a £100k XKR-S. The new range sees a whole host of standard features, including automatic deployable door handles to create uninterrupted airflow, a deployable rear spoiler that rises at speeds in excess of 60mph to reduce lift, slim-line, bi-function HID xenon headlights with built in washers that operate LED daytime running lights, even going as far as configurable coloured ambient interior lighting in the S model, and quad exhausts on the V8 S. If that wasn’t enough gadgetry, optional extras for the new models include a 12 speaker Meridian sound system, a heated leather steering wheel, blind spot monitoring radar sensors and switchable active exhausts to allow manual control of the bypass valves to produce a richer and more exhilarating sound! Those lucky enough to have had a test drive already have given the car excellent reviews, with The Daily Mail saying that the F-Type is the 'cat that has got the cream.' Meanwhile, Autocar gave it four stars, saying it is 'extremely good, going on excellent' and Topgear says it is 'achingly beautiful', with What Car? Giving another 4-start review saying it was definitely worth the wait.
