On Sunday 10 June, we'll be supporting our own triathlete in training, Louise, who is taking part in the AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds with the amazing Stephan & his daughter Chloe Couture, who has cerebral palsy.
The team of 3 will be raising money for Stephan's and his wife Jo's charity, Lady Bugs Trust, which helps improve the lives of disabled children & young adolescents.
The Ladybugs Trust is driven to help children and young adolescents with disabilities and varying special needs to experience life in a variety of ways. Their first aim is to help buy special equipment that promotes greater movement and sensory input for children and young people. This includes special equipment or sensory apparatus allowing children to have greater movement and a wider experience of the world they live in. Their second aim is to finance outdoor/outward bound/activity type trips for children who would not usually have access to such activities.
Super fit Stephan Couture, refuses to let daughter Chloe’s cerebral palsy and visual impairment stop her joining him swim, cycle and run at competitions nationwide – as he carried, pulls and pushes her around tough courses all over the world. Chloe has defied the odds and become an active triathlete, and she absolutely loves it!
Stephen was first introduced to Specialised Covers last year at the NEC Caravan and Motorhome Show. Although not needing a caravan or car cover, Stephan had a very special request; to pattern, design and manufacture a bespoke cover for a Chloe's race wheelchair.
Chloe's race chair, which is custom built and essential equipment for the duos sporting challenges, is expensive so it's essential it's protected and kept in top condition. We were more than delighted to offer our help and expertise.
Louise, our Head of Marketing, will be joining the super sporty team as they swim, bike and run from Roundhay Park to Leeds City Centre. Louise, who is not one to shy away from a challenge (although is self confessed not a triathlete!) and completed the Marathon des Sables in 2016, is hoping to help raise awareness and more much needed funds for this amazing charity.
Any donations, however small, will be graciously received and go towards this truly worthy cause.
