With milder weather starting to settle in and occasional bouts of sunshine peeping through the clouds, it looks like summer is hopefully just around the corner. Many of Britain’s dedicated caravanners are now starting to think about where to head off on their holidays, and which sites to visit. Low Wray, Cumbria On the edge of Lake Windermere, this National Trust site gives you the opportunity to watch the sun rise over the water, whilst spending the day exploring the picturesque Lake District. Back on site, there’s a shop selling local produce, laundry room, kids playground and lakeside beach. 2.Vale of Pickering Caravan Park, North Yorkshire This is a family run site set a 15-acre rural park in North Yorkshire, close to the pretty market towns of Pickering and Malton, and coastal areas of Whitby and Scarborough. As well as a caravan park, the site is also home to the family’s award winning dairy farm. Facilities at the site include centrally heated washrooms, a launderette and a licensed shop 3. Invercauld Caravan Club Site, Aberdeenshire On the fringe of the village of Braemar, the eastern gateway to the cairngorms, this is an idea site for avid walkers and mountain bikers. It’s also great for nature lovers, with herds of red deer free to roam around the site and you may also catch glimpse red squirrels, badgers, golden eagles and herons. It’s also a great spot for staying if you’re wanting to catch the famous annual Highland Gathering in Braemar. Usually held on the first Sunday of September, it’s ancient ceremony attended by members of the Royal Family. 4.Three Cliffs Bay, South Wales Voted the ‘number one view from a campsite in the world" by The Independent, 2006, this small site is set on the edge of the beautiful golden sands of Three Cliffs Bay. Looking out to the island of Scalpay, it’s a picturesque site, perfect for a real rural escape to relax, enjoy the scenery, and keep a look out for Otters that are regularly seen swimming by. 6. Beddgelert Campsite, Snowdonia Situated in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, this site provides the ultimate tranquil and relaxing break. Set among 70 hectacres of Beddlegert Forest, the site is within walking distance of Snowdon. And to top it off, the site also has it’s own station on the narrow gauge steam train! 7. Bay View Farm, Cornwall Overlooking Looe Bay, this coastal site offers you the sound of the sea, aswell as the view. Just outside the entrance to the site, you will find a coastal path which in one direction will take you to Millendreath Beach, and the other leads along Bodigga Cliff to Seaton and Downderry.
