We make precision-tailored car covers for both indoor and outdoor use. Designed to provide lasting protection for vehicles of any make or model & year. Using breathable and durable textiles, our covers safeguard against dust, moisture, and environmental damage, helping to preserve paintwork, detailing, and engineering finishes during storage or display.
Car CoversAbout Specialised Covers; Our Heritage, Capabilities & What We Do.
Protecting What Matters Since 1981
Since 1981, Specialised Covers has built a UK manufacturing legacy in tailored protection, starting out creating bespoke covers for cars, caravans, and specialist vehicles, and evolving into one of Europe’s leading industrial sewing manufacturers. Today, with over 50 full-time employees at our ISO 9001-certified facility in West Yorkshire, we design and produce complex cut-and-sew projects across multiple industries. From precision automotive protection to large-scale technical textile solutions, we’re proud to protect almost anything with craftsmanship, innovation, and quality at the heart of everything we do.
Our Expertise
Over four decades of experience have shaped our understanding of protection and performance. While we remain leaders in premium car, caravan, and motorhome covers, our capabilities extend far beyond leisure and automotive.
At the heart of our manufacturing process lies a unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern innovation. Our design and development teams still employ classic hand-drafting and templating techniques, refined over decades, to ensure each cover achieves a perfect, contoured fit. These traditional skills allow us to create one-off and highly complex patterns directly from physical vehicles, tooling, or components, a process that remains invaluable for prototypes and bespoke applications.
Alongside this, we integrate advanced CAD and digital scanning technologies to streamline and modernise production. Using 3D scanning and digital pattern manipulation, our engineers can precisely replicate intricate forms and ensure repeatable accuracy for volume manufacturing.
This dual approach, combining the artistry of traditional patterning with the precision of digital design allows us to deliver truly tailored protection, whatever the application. Whether safeguarding a supercar, a satellite component, or specialist equipment, every cover we produce reflects the same core principles: precision, performance, and protection built to last.
Our Process
Every project begins with collaboration. Our in-house design, development, and production teams work closely with clients to understand the demands of their product, process, or environment. Once requirements are defined, we produce bespoke prototypes using either hand-measured templates or digital CAD designs, depending on the application.
Our 32,000 sq ft facility in Shipley houses everything under one roof, design, patterning, cutting, sewing, and quality control, meaning we retain full oversight at every stage of manufacture. This not only allows for rapid prototyping and short lead times, but also ensures our customers receive consistent, ISO 9001-accredited quality on every order.
Whether you need a one-off technical textile solution or a scalable manufacturing partnership, we have the people, processes, and precision to deliver.
Our Capabilities
Manufacturing & Materials
Every product we make is designed, cut, and sewn in Britain by our skilled in-house team of tailors, designers, and seamstresses.
We develop and source high-performance textiles specifically suited to each application, from breathable, dust-resistant indoor fabrics to weatherproof and UV-stable outdoor materials.
This focus on material science, combined with over 40 years of hands-on experience, enables us to produce covers that protect vehicles, equipment, and assets across automotive, motorsport, industrial, and defence sectors.
We’re proud to manufacture exclusively in the UK.
By keeping every stage of production in-house, we maintain tighter quality control, shorter lead times, and direct communication between our team and our customers.
Supporting British manufacturing isn’t just our heritage, it’s our future. It ensures every product bearing our name represents the very best in design, innovation, and craftsmanship.
