Think about what happens inside a car on a hot day. Even when the outside temperature is 25°C, the interior of a sealed vehicle can reach temperatures significantly higher, sometimes double, in a relatively short period of time. A caravan works in a similar way & a caravan with a cover on even more so.

Black Components like solar panels, in particular, generate significant heat under direct sunlight, and when covered, that heat has nowhere to go. Metal components, roof trims and any dark external surfaces are subject to the same effect adding to temperatures.

During prolonged spells of hot weather, we recommend removing your winter storage cover and allowing the caravan to cool. This lets accumulated heat disperse naturally, reduces thermal stress on the van’s exterior components, and ensures that protective seals and materials aren’t being subjected to sustained elevated temperatures unnecessarily.
