Answers to frequently asked questions

If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for please feel free to contact our customer service team.

The roof tent can be mounted to either roof bars or a roof rack. First thing to do is ensure your vehicle manufacturers minimum weight capacity can support the weight of the tent.

At the moment we are only offering fitting at our headquarters in West Yorkshire. We will run through all the steps to ensure the tent is fitted correctly, along with a full tour of the roof tent so you’re fully clued up on how the product works and how to maximise the use.

Our Nomad Rooftent is made to fit on most vehicles. A talked about subject is dynamic load vs stationary load. Dynamic weight refers to the weight of an object that is in motion, while stationary weight refers to the weight of an object that is not moving.

Your dynamic roof load limit needs to be equal to or greater than the weight of the rooftop tent. If you do not know the dynamic roof load of your car you can find the information at the following website; https://www.car.info/en-se/

  1. Enter your vehicle at the top
  2. Click ‘show all vehicle info’
  3. Locate the ‘weight’ table
  4. Locate the ‘max roof load’

If you are still unsure, please reach out to us with your vehicle information, make model and year and we can do the leg work for you!

We offer a 2 year warranty covering, material and components. This does not cover general wear and tear. Damage that is caused by improper use, including cleaning or storage will not be covered. We offer protective covers for the roof tent that are designed for long term storage. Please reach out to us for more information regarding this.

Warranty work will only apply to the original customer.

We advise against opening your tent in winds greater than 35mph. It is rare we will get winds that high in the UK, but it does happen. Our advice is always check the weather prior to your cramping trip, which we all do anyway! If the wind speeds are looking high (35mph or over) then please consider our advice and think about reorganising your trip. You’re safe to use your roof tent on a normal, breezy day.

We only offer a fitting service from our HQ located in Shipley, West Yorkshire. We offer this service to ensure the best customer experience. We would love to have you on site to show you how to fit the tent and make sure you’re using it to its best. We will also run through how to store the tent correctly maintaining the best health for the roof tent.

The external roof bars on the top of the Nomad provide additional mounting points for gear like kayaks or storage boxes. They’re built to hold 70KG closed and 20KG open.

Ensure that the roof bars or rails have the same load capacity limit or greater than the vehicles roof load capacity limit. For example; a VW Passat All-Track has a roof load capacity of 100KG therefore we recommend roof bars with the same or greater loads capacity.

Due to the weight of the tent being 74KG this would leave you with 26KG to put on the top of the tent.

Now, I know this seems confusing but if you have any questions please do contact us and we can explain further and make this information important.
