94 amazing classic cars spanning 83 years, as well as a host of automobilia and luxury lifestyle items, were sold this weekend at Silverstone Auctions’ sale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show. One of the biggest classic car auctions in the calendar, the two-day sale saw a fantastic selection of celebrity owned cars on offer. The ex-Peter Sellers 1966 Lotus Elan S2 sold for £50,625 and the 1973 Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, once owned by boxing legend Henry Cooper, sold for £30,938! We were measuring all of the Club Showcase cars during the show, as even we didn’t know the winner before it was announced…and we don’t know how the judges made their final choice, they all looked fantastic!! However, the judges did make their decision and Alexander Louden was the very worthy winner. Alexander acquired his 1939 MG TB in 1993. This car was introduced in May 1939 with a 1250cc engine developing 54.4bhp. Production of this two seater sport model ceased at the start of World War 2, making this model the rarest of the MG TB series. This car is number 338 of the 379 produced and was completely restored by Alexander between 2005 and 2009. Since the restoration the car covered 2,398 miles, driving to local shows during the summer.
