How We Pattern European Caravans, and Why It’s Worth the Trip

If you own a Hobby, Fendt, Knaus, Adria or Kabe caravan and you’ve tried to find a properly tailored towing or storage cover, you’ll already know the frustration. The market for UK-built vans is well served. For European models, the options thin out fast, and what’s left is usually a universal cover that fits in the same way a bin bag fits: technically, but not well.

Our goal is to change that. We want European caravan owners to have access to the same quality of tailored cover protection that UK caravanners have relied on for years, and the only way to do that properly is to go and pattern the vans ourselves.

The Problem With Patterning European Caravans

Every tailored cover we make starts with a pattern,  a precise record of a caravan’s exact profile, front face, curves and dimensions. Without an accurate pattern, you can’t produce a cover that truly fits. And without a truly fitted cover, you lose all the benefits: the protection, the security on the road, the confidence that it’s going to stay in place at 60mph. The challenge with European caravans is a straightforward one: there aren’t many of them over here. UK caravan parks and storage sites are filled overwhelmingly with Bailey, Swift, Elddis and Coachman, all brands we’ve held patterns for years. But a Hobby Prestige or a Fendt Diamant? You’re not going to find one parked conveniently down the road. That means if you want to do this properly, you have to go to where the vans are.

We Go to Europe, Because That’s What It Takes

We make dedicated trips to mainland Europe specifically to take patterns from European caravan models. Each brand requires physical access to the caravan, time to complete the patterning accurately, and return visits as new model years are released.

Our trips have included attending the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, one of the largest caravan shows in the world, and working with European dealers on the ground to access the models we need. For full storage covers, we use our Proliner digital scanning system, a professional-grade tool that captures the precise geometry of each caravan and produces an accurate CAD model to work from, removing any margin for error. For towing covers, we use our traditional hand patterning techniques, tailoring the pattern directly to the van’s front profile, A-frame and fittings. Both methods are tried, tested and refined. The right method depends on the product, the standard is the same either way.

The trips aren’t a shortcut-friendly process, and that’s exactly the point. European caravan owners are avid tourers who invest seriously in their vans. They deserve covers that reflect that, and we’re not going to produce those from a desk in the UK.

The Awning Channel Challenge — and How We Solved It

One of the most important things we’ve learned from working directly with European caravans is that the fitment approach has to adapt to how these vans are actually built.

On most UK-market caravans, we fit towing covers by sliding awning tape into an open awning channel on both sides of the caravan’s front face, a clean, secure, damage-free method. Many European caravans, however, only feature one open awning channel. This is common across Hobby and Fendt models and rules out the standard fitting method on the opposite side.

Rather than compromising on security, we developed a solution: awning tape in the open channel on one side, and 3M adhesive poppers on the other, surface-safe, secure, and designed specifically around the way these vans are constructed.

Some European brands differ again, Kabe caravans typically feature two open awning channels and can be fitted using the standard method on both sides. Every brand is assessed individually, and the fitting approach is always chosen to give the most secure and appropriate result for that specific van.

The Brands We Currently Cover

Thanks to our European trips and ongoing expansion programme, we currently hold patterns for the following brands:

Hobby — Ontour, De Luxe, De Luxe Edition, Excellent, Prestige, Premium and Maxia lines, 2020–2026 models.

Fendt — Apero, Bianco, Tendenza and Diamant, 2025–2026 models.

Knaus — Azur, Lifestyle, Sport, Sport & Fun, Sport e-Power, Star Class and Südwind across a wide range of model years.

Adria — An extensive range from 2019 onwards, including European variants. Some models carry different names to their UK equivalents — if you don’t immediately see your Adria listed, get in touch, we very likely have it.

Kabe — Estate, Gemstone, Royal, Hacienda and Imperial in Standard and KS Comfort System variants, 2024–2025 models.

Tabbert is coming next. We’re actively working to add this brand as part of our continued commitment to expanding what’s available to European caravan owners.

What If We Don’t Have Your Model Yet?

We’re growing our European range constantly, but we’d rather be honest than overpromise. If your model isn’t listed, we have multiple methods of obtaining a pattern for you – just get in touch. For certain vans, our Tow Pro Universal, a stretch TPU cover designed to flex to your caravan’s front profile, may be a suitable option, though this does require two open awning channels for fitment.

The best starting point is simply to get in touch and tell us what you have. We’ll give you an honest answer about what’s possible.

We Ship Across Europe

This isn’t just for owners in the UK. We ship covers to mainland Europe and beyond, and we’ve already done exactly that, with covers reaching European customers who found us online, as well as orders through our dealer partner De Greeff in the Netherlands.

European caravan owners understand quality and they understand fit. The appetite for a properly tailored cover is absolutely there, and we’re building the pattern library, the relationships and the capability to meet it. Delivery to European destinations is calculated at checkout. The cover is made to the same standard regardless of where it’s headed.

A Mission That’s Still in Progress

Patterning European caravans properly is an ongoing commitment. New model years arrive annually. New brands are on our radar. And the more European caravan owners discover that a genuinely tailored cover exists and makes a real difference to their van, the more the demand grows.

We’re investing in this because we believe the European market deserves access to covers that are actually built for their vans. The trips are worth it. The patterning is worth it. And as more patterns are added and more covers cross the Channel, we’re only getting started.

If your caravan is listed, you can order directly from our website. If it isn’t, start with an enquiry. Either way, we’re ready.
